Raveendran was a famous Malayalam music director (born 9 November 1943 in Kulathupuzha village, Kollam district. Died: 2005). He has composed music for more than 150 films. He is considered one of the best music directors in Malayalam cinema and was known as Raveendran Master. Amaram, Sukhamo Devi, His Highness Abdullah, and Bharatham are some of his best works
After graduating in music, he came to Chennai to pursue a career as a playback singer. At that time he was known as Kulathupuzha Ravi in ​​cinema circles. Raveendran himself has revealed that his early life in Chennai was full of hardships. He also revealed that he had been drinking only tap water for a week. Baburaj, who was a music director, was given the opportunity to sing in the film for the first time.
He became a playback singer for the first time for the film 'valliyazhcha'. She later sang in over thirty films. A few of them were noticed. As his chances as a singer diminished, he also worked as a dubbing artist.
It was Yesudas who turned Raveendran from a singer into a music director. Yesudas listened to a few songs composed by Raveendran and introduced him to director Sasikumar. In 1979, Raveendran became a film music director with the film Choola. Sathyan Anthikkad wrote “Tarake Mizhiyithal kannerumayi." The first film song he composed. He has composed music for over 200 films in Malayalam, Tamil, and Kannada. He won the 1991 State Award for Music Direction for the film "Bharatham". At that year's National Film Awards, the music of the same film won special praise from the judges. In 2002, he again won the state award for his songs in Nandanam
MG Sreekumar won his first national award for his masterpiece song 'Shankari Pahimam' (His Highness Abdullah). Among the singers, Chitra was the one who sang the master's songs the most. He has given the opportunity to all Malayalam singers to sing. Although he died of cancer in recent times, he has also been in the music world for TV. Raveendran was also active in the channels. Death came to him quite unexpectedly. Raveendran passed away on March 3, 2005, at 3:30 pm at his home in Chennai. His last films Vadakkunnathan and Kalabham were released posthumously.
