Mouse
Mouse a mouse is a small furry member
of the order of gnawing mammals called
rodents See Rodents). Like its close relative the rat, the house mouse is a pest
that has allowed man to almost every
part of the world (See Rat). It does much
damage in food stores, sleeping in quiet
places during the day but coming out to
feed at night. Mice breed rapidly, pro-
reducing several litters each year. Man has
used cats to catch mice tor thousands of
years. But mice also make good pets.
Some other kinds of mice are outdoor creatures. They include the harvest-
mouse, which makes a globe-shaped nest
among the stems of a wheat field.
